An excursion to the main islands of Lake Trasimeno: Isola Maggiore and Isola Polvese, surrounded by nature, arts and old traditions
The guided tour of Castiglione del Lago will lead you to discover this lovely little village perched on a promontory fronting onto Lake Trasimene. The historic center still preserves its original town layout dating back to the 13th century.
During the guided visit of Castiglione del Lago we will see the magnificent medieval castle named Fortezza del Leone, with its imposing 30-meter high dungeon from where one can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake and of Palazzo della Corgna, an elegant Renaissance palace that was entirely frescoed by 16th century painters.
We will then visit the church dedicated to Santa Maria Maddalena, built at the end of the 19th century, to admire its fine paintings and especially the Virgin Enthroned with Saints that was attributed to painter Eusebio da San Giorgio, an apprentice of Pietro Vannucci.
