Guided tour of Sansepolcro and Valtiberina

The Valtiberina Valley and Sansepolcro

The Valtiberina and its treasures

Exploring Piero's homeland: Sansepolcro, Monterchi and Anghiari

Cortona Tourist Guide also proposes some guided tours in the Upper Tiber valley, a unique and amazing place originating in Romagna that runs through Tuscany and Umbria along river Tiber.

The Valtiberina is characterised by an incredible variety of landscapes and a significant number of historic, artistic and religious heritage. Here we can discover the art and genius of great artists like Piero della Francesca, Michelangelo Buonarroti and Leonardo da Vinci. What is more, we can retrace the footsteps of Saint Francis of Assisi by visiting hermitages, churches and monasteries.

A guided tour of Valtiberina will also allow you to taste a rich and delicious cuisine mainly based on mushrooms, truffle, chestnuts and good wine.

Among the most interesting places to visit in the Upper Tiber Valley there are the old villages of Sansepolcro and Anghiari, which are renowned for Piero della Francesca and Leonardo da Vinci, as well as the little village of Monterchi, famous for the Madonna del Parto, one of the most beautiful frescoes made by Piero and the village of Caprese Michelangelo, where great artist Michelangelo Buonarroti was born.

We have long sought one word to describe this valley, but no word can entirely express the beauty of all the treasures that are preserved here.
