This guided tour in the Upper Tiber Valley that we have organised is entirely dedicated to the works of art that Piero della Francesca, one of the greatest Italian painters of the 15th century, left within the province of Arezzo.

The tour retracing Piero's footsteps is led by accredited tour guides working for Cortona Tourist Guide starting from Sansepolcro, the town where the artist was born and where it is still possible to visit his birthplace, a lovely house that was recently reopened to the public after a long renovation work.

This guided tour of Piero's homeland continues with the Museo Civico of Sansepolcro, where some of his most significant paintings are displayed, among which we find the polyptych representing the Lady of Mercy and the famous Resurrection that has become the symbol of the town.

We will then visit the lovely village of Monterchi and its town museum, where the world-renowned fresco called Madonna del Parto, one of the most important and esteemed representations of motherhood of all times, is preserved.

Finally, we will drive to Arezzo to visit its Cathedral and see the spectacular fresco with Mary Magdalene and to get into the Bacci Chapel in the Basilica of San Francesco to admire the impressive cycle of frescoes known as the Legend of the True Cross, which is widely acknowledged as Piero della Francesca's ultimate masterpiece.
