Among the several itineraries to choose from, Cortona Tourist Guide has conceived a tour along the Setteponti Road, an interesting route to discover the history, culture, art and traditions connected to these charming places that have been built along the Cassia Vetus, the ancient road linking Arezzo and Fiesole.

The guided tour along the Setteponti Road begins at Ponte Buriano, an evocative Romanesque bridge over river Arno, continues through Badia di Soffena, Castelfranco di Sopra and Loro Ciuffenna, an old medieval town built over stream Loro, and ends in Pian di Scò, where we can see the Parish Church of Santa Maria whose presence is documented as early as 1008.

In the surroundings of Loro Ciuffenna we can also visit the Romanesque Parish Church of San Pietro a Gropina, one of the oldest and most important within the Diocese of Arezzo, where we can admire beautiful stone decorated capitals and an ambo adorned with low reliefs, a real masterpiece of Tuscan Romanesque art.

This itinerary might be extended upon request with a visit of Il Borro, an old medieval village that was redeveloped and renovated in 1993 thanks to the Ferragamo family, who gave a new life to this old hamlet with the production of olive oil, wine, walnuts and cereals by making it a popular tourist destination.

Difficulty:

Easy (a means of transport is needed to get around in the town surroundings).
